After separating its enterprise IT focused unit, the now slimmer HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) can be seen rethinking its hardware strategy. HPQ is pairing with Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Google to roll out a Chromebook 13 that they hope will give even more traction to the Chromebook.

HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) and Google are rolling out Chromebook 13 and it looks like it can give Apple’s new MacBook a serious run for its money.

What about Chromebook 13?

HPQ’s Chromebook 13 is a compelling piece of hardware both in terms of looks and internals. That is another way of saying that the laptop could convince many buyers to consider it as a viable, lower cost alternative to Apple’s pricey MacBook.

HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ)’s Chromebook 13 is an all-metal casing laptop that weighs 2.8 pounds. It’s quite slim as it measures only half an inch in thickness.


The Chromebook 13 has Intel inside and that comes in the form of Intel Core M chip. The local storage is huge – 32GB. The RAM is amazing – 4GB and you can expand it up to 16GB.

Apple’s new MacBook laptop comes in different version but the standard RAM is 8GB.

How long can the battery last?

If you take HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) and its partner Google for their word, Chromebook 13 battery can last you more than 11 hours of usage after a single charge. That is almost the promise that Apple is giving with the upgraded MacBook. Apple also claims that the new laptop can give you 10 hours of Web browsing and up to 11 hours when you are playing iTunes.

HPQ’s Chromebook 13 is equipped with many ports compared to Apple’s new MacBook device. The Chromebook 13 spots a 13.3-inch display capable of rendering 3200 x 1800 resolution.
