Morning Beat: Under Armour Inc (UA), Alphabet Inc (GOOGL), and Facebook Inc. (FB)
Under Armour Inc (NYSE:UA) has partnered audio specialist JBL, for the development of the world’s best gym earphones. The new wireless-free, Bluetooth headphones come with a small battery fitted inside an inline remote control that guarantees eight hours of power.
The remote controller being universal should work with both iOS and Android Devices. While using the earphone one should be able to take calls and skip tracks with just a simple tap of one of the three buttons.
Under Armour Inc (NYSE:UA) says sound quality out of the earphones should be super, with great balance between bass and treble sounds.
Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has invested an undisclosed amount in Center for Resource Solutions, a San Francisco-based renewable energy company. The investment does not come as a surprise as the tech giant plans to have a good chunk of its operations running on renewable energy, in future.
Center for Resource Solutions should help support the tech giant’s goal given that it runs one of the largest renewable certification programs in North America. The company plans to use part of the amount raised to finance certification programs in Asia. Taiwan will be the first stop as part of the Asian roll out.
Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) has been hiding some messages on its messaging app Messenger. The ‘message request’ feature in the app’s settings is designed to notify users on receiving messages from people not added as friends. It appears that is not always the case.
Apparently, Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) only notifies people if it ‘thinks’ a message is from someone they might know. Anything else is normally filtered out as spam. The feature operates the same way as spam folders in email accounts.
The filtering process is now the subject of outrage online, some people having found a good chunk of important messages blocked as spam.
HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ) has beaten Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to the launch of the world’s thinnest laptop. Weighing just 2.45lbs with a thickness of 10.4mm, HP Specter is the new masterpiece created with focus on ‘luxury and artisanal craftsmanship.’
There have been rumors that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on a 13 and 15 inch MacBook’s. The tech giant might have to rethink its design if it still wants to rival HP on the ‘World’s Thinnest Laptop. ’ HP Inc (NYSE:HPQ)’s new laptop comes with an Intel Core i5 or i7 Skylake processor with a battery able to guarantee 9.5 hours’ worth of power.
Other specifications include a Corning Gorilla Glass IPS 1080P display, 8GB worth of RAM and an Intel HD Graphics 520. Specter should be available for preorder starting April 25 with shipment set to start in May. The laptop will cost $1,170.
