Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935)(OTCMKTS:SSNLF)’s Latest Ativ Book To Hit The U.S. Market Soon After Launching In Korea
The updated version of Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935)(OTCMKTS:SSNLF)’s originally doomed Ativ Book is set to enter the U.S. market in 2016. The laptop has only formally launched in Samsung’s domestic market of South Korea. The new Ativ Book 9 Elite notebook is powered by Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC)’s Skylake processor.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935)(OTCMKTS:SSNLF) failed to impress the market with the original Ativ notebook. The laptop was supposed to feature premium design and come at a budget price, but that was not to be, thus limiting its uptake. With the Ativ Book 9 Elite, Samsung has corrected the mistakes in the original model, boosted performance and hopes that this time the market will be receptive. U.S. residents will have a chance to put the new Ativ notebook to test in 2016. However, here are the specs you can expect from Samsung’s updated Ativ Book.
The Ativ Book 9 Elite is only 0.7 inches thick. The compact laptop also weighs only three pounds. At that weight, it is a lighter than the original Ativ notebook, but larger in form factor.
Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935)(OTCMKTS:SSNLF)’s new Ativ notebook spots 13.3-inch display and renders 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution.
The Ativ Book 9 Elite is powered by Intel’s Skylake-based processor and also comes with Intel’s HD graphics – the HD 510 graphics. Samsung’s compact laptop boasts 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (SSD).
The Ativ Book 9 Elite device features Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and as multiple ports such as USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI. It also has a mini Ethernet port. The compact laptop comes with a 30W/h battery.
The original Samsung Ativ Book aimed to compete with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s 15-inch MacBook Air, but lost the battle. Although the revamped Ativ Book 9 Elite has much going for it in terms of performance and other competitive spheres, it is coming to a crowded market that is already choking with competition. It will be interesting to see how Samsung manages the challenge when the device comes to the U.S.
There are currently no pricing details for Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (KRX:005935)(OTCMKTS:SSNLF)’s Ativ Book 9 Elite. But in addition to the U.S., it is expected to launch in Japan, Taiwan, Europe and New Zealand in 2016.
