Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has initiated a third consecutive price cut for the iPhone 5S in India as it looks to shore up sales this holiday season. IPhone 5S will now retail for RS. 24,999 almost half compared to its September price of Rs. 44,500. The price cut affirms the company’s desire to increase penetration its penetration levels in the fast growing smartphone marketplace.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should be able to compete with Samsung and Micromax, which account for a good chunk of smartphones sold in the sub-$300 level. According to IDC, the iPhone maker is not among the top 5 smartphone vendors in India. However, with the latest aggressive price cut push, it should be able to accrue a substantial amount of market share.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is pulling off some hoverboards from its online platform over fears some of them don’t meet safety standards. Five models initially reviewed by consumer affairs site BestReviews are no longer available after it emerged some of them could explode.

Manufacturers will have to provide documents to Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) showing their products are compliant with acceptable standards before they are made available on the popular online platform. More focus is being paid on the battery and the chargers for the self-balancing scooters.

Britain’s trading standard authority has already warned that 88% of the hoverboards imported outside the EU, do not meet the required safety standards.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has acquired streaming rights to Taylor Swift’s upcoming 1989 world tour. Apple Music is to play host to the tour slated for December 20. This is good news to people who cannot make it to the actual venue. It is still unclear how much the deal is worth.

As part of the deal, the iPhone maker has also bagged rights to use her name and likeness in promotion campaigns. Acquiring such rights are a big win for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) which is trying to position Apple Music as the go-to place for entertainment. With Taylor Swift in the fold, the iPhone maker should be able to ink other similar deals as it bid to give its music service an edge in the highly competitive business.

SAMSUNG ELECTRONIC KRW5000 (OTCMKTS:SSNLF)’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7, will feature a pressure-sensitive screen similar to the 3D touch display on iPhone 6S. The Wall Street Journal reports the Korean company is inclined to release an ‘Edge’ variant smartphone with a curved screen.

The Camera is also to receive an upgrade but devoid of a bump at the back to accommodate optics. Other features that SAMSUNG ELECTRONIC KRW5000 (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) is working on include, USB-C port with fast charging capability. S7 could also feature a retina scanner as well as an iris scanner initially planned for Galaxy S5.
