It has been a long wait to see Prime Video stream on Apple TV, but Amazon is about to end what looked like a corporate impasse., Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Apple are competitors on multiple fronts. For example, they both sell smartphones, tablets and streaming media devices. Sometimes their paths cross and sometimes they choose to walk parallel paths to each other. Digital video streaming is one case where the relationship between Amazon and Apple appears complicated.

Amazon withholds Prime Video from Apple TV

Although Prime Video already streams on rival products from Apple such as iPhones and iPads, enabling Prime Video on the new Apple TV didn’t look simple for Amazon. It appeared as though the company was trying to give its Fire TV an edge over Apple TV. Both Fire TV and Apple TV appeal to the streaming media market, and the new Apple TV is threatening to displace many of its rivals given its enriched nature. The new Apple TV has a standalone app store and also supports gaming in addition to video streaming.

The new Apple TV launched with multiple content contributors but Amazon’s Prime Video was conspicuously missing. Although Amazon looks set to make Prime Video available on the new Apple TV platform, nothing is guaranteed. After all we are talking about Amazon and Apple here, anything can happen along the way that the rumored Prime Video apps for Apple TV may not launch immediately.

However, the standoff between, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Apple over video streaming appears to be nearing an. Amazon is said to be working on launching Prime Video app for Apple TV in the coming weeks. The move will widen content selection for Apple TV owners and also benefit Amazon’s video business.
