Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Twitter (TWTR) And Amazon (AMZN) Shine In Engineering Quality Ranking
It has emerged that Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has the largest number of best-in-class engineers. In the technology industry, the quality of engineers you have makes the difference between failure and success. Besides Alphabet, the other companies with strong talent pools are Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Interestingly, PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) is emerging as a rare case because despite its dwarfed talent pool, the company stands head and shoulder above rivals in the payments market.
Bernstein Research has analyzed data from SignalFire and discovered how performance in the technology industry correlates with the number and quality of engineers in a company. On that basis, it become easy to explain Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s leading position in multiple technology areas. According to the findings, Alphabet has the most number of high-quality engineers of any technology company tracked by SignalFire.
At Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), about 20% of engineers have TalentRank ratings above 95%. Because of that Alphabet is able to innovate at scale compared to most rivals.
Twitter’s engineering pool
The number of higher quality engineers at Twitter doesn’t match that of Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG). However, Twitter has the highest concentrate of high-quality engineers of any technology company, beating even Alphabet and its fiercest rival Facebook. The reason Twitter boasts the highest concentrate of top-rated engineers is that it has a much smaller number of engineers in overall.
Amazon’s talent pool
Amazon also rates among the technology companies with a large number of high-quality engineering talents. The talent riches at Amazon appears to come through its public cloud focused business AWS.
Facebook’s engineering talents
Facebook already boasts the strongest ad engineers, but the company is also building its pool of high-quality engineers. On the advertising front, Facebook has the best team that beats even Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG).
As much as talent quality correlate with performance, there exist exceptions and PayPal is one. Despite the fact that it doesn’t have so many top quality engineers, PayPal leads Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and others in the payments space.
