A week ago BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) unveiled its Priv based on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android OS for the first time. However, it has its own security features, which earned a reputation for unmatched mobile security. Significantly, the device has QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM)’s Snapdragon 808, which was also liked by the smartphone maker. There is a potential that Priv can be a game changer for the chip maker, which enjoys a strong R&D budget to support Snapdragon processors to remain competitive in the marketplace. There are other phone makers, who are using the chip like Google’s Nexus 5X, as well as Nexus 6P business apart from the budget-friendly LG.

Priv To Be Backed By All Carriers

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is tentatively planning to release its Priv next month, and that will be backed by all the four big carriers in the United States. Obviously, QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) has got possible gains if postpaid subscribers cancel their ordinary iPhone, as well as, Android phones in favor of the BlackBerry Priv because of its security. One of the reasons the enterprises have faith in BlackBerry was its highly security, which has become one of the top priorities for the IT managers in the corporate world.

It was a fact that BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) offered BYOD solutions to Android handsets. However, it will not be the same as the security provided by it is made of hardware. The security used in the BlackBerry Priv with Android OS would be much more secured than the silent circle’s Blackphone two. The Canadian Firm has the best mobility security solutions due to its security, as well as, the government officials’ trust on BlackBerry’s mobile gadgets. Also, SAMSUNG ELECT LTD(F) (ADR) (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) has to approach the Canadian firm’s $2,300 SecuTablet for its government client in German. That should provide some leeway in expecting BlackBerry Priv Android smartphone is a key win for QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM).

Reputation Improves For Chip Maker

The number of possible buyers for BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) might remain small compared to the $400- less Nexus 5X. The company’s PR pointed out that the winning the trust go a long way in enhancing the chip maker’s reputation. It was already known the Snapdragon 808 was performing exceedingly well and at the same time free of throttling or overheating issues. The snapdragon 808 appeared to be a perfect bet for LG’s LG4.

The smartphone manufacturer has appreciated that QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) for its powerful Snapdragon 808 that is similar to that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s A8 processors. It was natural for the Canadian company to use the higher-end Snapdragon 808, which helps advanced Quick Charge 2.0 technology, as well as, X10 LTE for the speedier mobile internet.

Global Brand Recognition

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is enjoying the recognition of a global brand, which should not be restricted to competing with thousands of other Android device vendor. Backing Windows 10 is not a barrier if the company’s CEO, John Chen, was ready to discuss with the people. The company also expects the market to remain strong since there was still market for higher-end priv among those interested in security, as well as, privacy issues. That included corporate, as well as, individuals.

As far as QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) is concerned, the tailwind is its mobile chip business. The maker is expected to continue receiving mo wins for design, especially the Snapdragon processors. The company might also continue to provide greater budget for its R&D to keep its chip competitive than MediaTek and Samsung’s mobile processors. In a nutshell, the chip maker’s quality and efficiency of the chip will get tremendous demonstration when it is aligned with high end of the smartphone users. Therefore, more than BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY), it is Qualcomm that will expect the release of Priv more eagerly next month.

If the ceo John Chen could not demo and present a functional device…too much credit being attached to this device based on BlackBerry legacy..that’s all that is left of that company, lagcy. All four carrier in US…??? Not happening…false statement. Security… :)?? Samsung Knox is way ahead of BlackBerry on android security…again too much credit being assumed based on legacy. Stories and more paid stories from BlackBerry…save that last penny for shut down lock.

I cant believe that Chen would authorise the use of android without knowing how to operate it. BlackBerry main cause of their demise is due to the take over of all touch devices, but yet they build another physical type handset.

While I agree that Chen did not do any favors by showing the Priv, many don’t realize how that came about. Due to the name leak the day before this interview, Chen thought he should get out in front of the story. Unfortunately, someone gave him a demo unit that was not set up. It threw him off guard and recovered quickly. In the end, many more know about the device because of this screw up. All and all, Android Sites still can’t wait for the Priv. I wish BlackBerry well.

Samsung Knox ahead of BlackBerry? Where did that come from? You know that Knox rely on BlackBerry security…

    • xBURK

Yes, on all four major US carriers. Plus, Samsung and BlackBerry teamed up to make Knox better.
