Tesla Motor Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s Model X crossover to launch at a September 29 event

Tesla Motor Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s Model X SUV is coming with official launch slated for September 29. It looks like the electric SUV will reach early customers on September 30 as earlier hinted. Tesla’s Model X has been a long time coming with occasional delays hitting its arrival. It has been cited that Model X could be the vehicle that would open up more sales opportunities for Tesla in China, a country where drivers have special love for big cars.

The long wait is over. Model X will arrive on September 29. Tesla Motor Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) just sent out invitations to journalists to attend the launch of its electric SUV. As usual, Tesla is still mean with some Model X details, only depicting silhouettes of the vehicle in the invitations.

Falcon doors

The Model X features doors that deploy vertically, affectionately known as Falcon doors. The outline of the Model X depicted in the invitation letters also shows glowing LED lights on the car’s front.

It is expected that Model X will feature the all-wheel power train similar to the one in the “D” version of Model S. The Model X is also expected to have a more robust suspension, which is built around a taller chassis. The exact range of Model X is part of the details that are currently kept under cover.

Chinese taste

Tesla Motor Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA)’s has always sought to bring out the fact that the sales progress of its flagship Model S is compelling. However, it has also not been lost on observers that Model S has had a mixed reception in various markets.

For example, it has been said that the small size of Model S doesn’t make it the kind of car that rich Chinese drivers want to own. In China, the wealthy like hitting the streets in big cars, which grab attention, and Model X will satisfy that craving. That explains why Tesla could witness an enormous lift in its Chinese sales after Model X launchs in the market.
