Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) To Bring Computer Science To Under Represented Schools


Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s CEO, Satya Nadella, promised to bring Computer Science to the under-represented schools. For that, the company will contribute $75 million in the next three years. The focus turned to schools since the company believes that computational thinking is a key skill and needs to be a key part in all schools for the future. He was speaking at the Dreamforce conference providing an update on his vision for the software firm.

The First Beneficiary 

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s commitment is only for the non-profit organizations and the first gainer will be Technical Education and Literacy in Schools. Incidentally, the school was launched by the employees of the software firm and is lending a helping hand to 6,000 students in 130 schools in 18 States in the Americas. The company’s CEO wanted the numbers to be scaled up by five-fold by citing 10-year deadline of New York City to offer Computer Science programs to students.

Aside from sharing the philanthropical decision of the company, Nadella was asked about the direction of the company. He talked about the pursuit of helping people optimize their time. He was asked about a soul, and he said that it has a soul since it is made of people. He pointed out that it was because of that he and the team looks at the mission of the firm. That is the empowering of everyone on the planet.

Changed The Culture

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s CEO was credited with changing the culture of the firm in the one and half years of office since he assumed in February last year. Nadella said that culture is everything and the success is determined by it of having in the office doing their best thing.

The company’s CEO also talked about three primary ambitions. The first was on productivity, which became apparent immediately after he took the CEO position. He said that contributing or doing a part in the digital technology success is another big ambition. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s other area of focus included creating an intelligent cloud.
