This Wednesday, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s much-anticipated Android Pay is expected to launch at McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:MCD) stores. There has been no official confirmation on the issue, but leaked internal communications reveal plans to add Android Pay as a payments option inside McDonald’s restaurants. Given McDonald’s love for new technologies, rumors about the store being the first or among the first to accept Android Pay appear to have some credence.

Rumors are swirling that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s mobile payments service Android Pay will possibly launch this Wednesday, August 26. There may be some other merchants that will implement the new payments service in their stores at launch, but McDonald’s seems to be leading the way.

In a number of memos, McDonald’s makes mention of a new payment method enabled in Android smartphones. The memos ask managers and crew to prepare for the roll out of the new mobile payment system.

Other sources have also cited that McDonald’s will post signs at the payment terminals to let customers know about the availability of Android Pay as a payment option. In the memos, McDonald’s tells managers that the service procedure of using Android Pay is just the same with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Apple Pay.

Samsung Pay also mentioned

Other internal communications leaked from McDonald’s also make mention of another new payment service from Samsung. In the battle for mobile payments revenue, Samsung announced that it was joining Apple in the mobile payments business with Samsung Pay, which is expected to launch on September 28. However, McDonald’s somehow erroneously talks about Samsung Pay being launched on August 21, a date that seems to have been confused with the launch date for the Galaxy Note 5.

Google mum on exact Android Pay launch date

On the issue of Android Pay, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) hasn’t communicated when exactly the service would launch, only saying it will be available later this year. However, given McDonald’s reputation as a fast-mover in adoption of new technologies, it cannot be far-fetched that the store will be the first to introduce Android Pay on the cited date.

Neither McDonald’s nor Google has disputed rumors about the Android Pay launch on August 26.
