Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Cortana Debuts On Apple’s Macs Before Siri Does

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) seems to be rapidly embracing cross-platform rendering. Latest reports reveal that Microsoft’s virtual assistant tool, called Cortana, is coming to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Mac computers. Apple has an almost similar virtual assistant called Siri, which hasn’t been made available on Macs. As such, Microsoft is set to beat Apple in bringing a feature-rich virtual assistant to Mac.

There is a major change in strategy at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), which can be seen in how the company is quickly embracing rival platforms. Products that were previously only available on Windows can now be found on Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Android and Apple’s iOS platforms, and Office is one of them.

In the latest development, it has emerged that Microsoft’s Cortana, which was originally only available on Windows Phone, is coming to Apple’s OS X platform.

Enabling Cortana on OS X

The newly released Windows 10 and virtualization software called Parallels are helping Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to bring Cortana experience to Mac users. With the latest version of Parallels, Mac users are able to access Cortana and have the app run almost natively on OS X systems.

Putting Cortana into use

Using Cortana, one can obtain quick information on a wide range of issues that include time zones, weather and currency conversion. Integration of Cortana into OS X is already working well, with responses coming quick and accurate.

Advantage of fast mover

By bringing Cortana to Mac head of Apple’s Siri, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has made a calculation that could benefit it in unprecedented ways. Many OS X users will certainly try out Cortana where they want to control their computers using voice commands. If Cortana turns out to be better than Siri, that is if the latter does come to Mac, Microsoft could end up with many faithful Cortana users on OS X.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Cortana has also been made available on Windows desktops.

Mac users who want to enjoy Cortana on their systems can get their hands on Parallels 11 at £64.99 in a one-time purchase. The Pro Edition of the feature is available at £69.99 a year.
