BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Venice Looks Awesome And Will Be Available On AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, And T-Mobile
BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) is getting ready to launch its Venice model during the Fall season. The company’s new model will not only have the Touchscreen but also a sliding keyboard teased during the current year. The company plans to launch it on all the four major telecom carriers in the United States. This will include Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ), AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), Sprint Corp (NYSE:S), and T-Mobile USE Inc (NYSE:TMUS). The device will likely have Android OS instead of the regular BlackBerry OS.
First Android Smartphone
BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Venice is reported to be the first Android powered smartphone. Evan Blass had leaked product pictures in June; He has shared more pictures this time too. He expects the widespread launch of the device by November in America. The leaked image shows, typing experience will not be the same as conventional BlackBerry.
The new model has rectangular chiclet keys and a little amount of travel compared to standard BlackBerry keyboard. The keys will be same as normal device. Yet, the company is offering hardware keyboard option for those who want it.
Interesting Tidbit From The Render
The interesting tidbit from the render is that there are Google apps are there on the device. Does it mean that it is an official launch from Google with regard to Google apps on Blackberry devices? The device will have original OS that will consist of Maps, Google Drive, Google+, and Google Apps. Typically in the Android world, these are not included unless licensed to run them.
As a result, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Venice smartphone could have Google apps. The Canadian firm has separate apps for Android, that undoubtedly will come pre-installed.
So Far No Official Confirmation
There is no official confirmation. Whether, the company will use Android only for sliding keyboard device, or other devices. Currently, Android and iOS dominate the mobile operating system. There is a necessity on the part of the company to include Android since most of the apps are on Android or iOS.
So, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) is focusing on enterprise mobility and software to generate revenue. But, the Canadian company is not yet giving up on smartphone segment. The company has been witnessing a steady fall in revenue generation. The company continues to launch fresh models. However, the focus on security and enterprise mobility has increased drastically.
