Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s New Patent For Headset With In-Built Microphone Could Be A Game-Changer In Many Ways
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s patent portfolio continues to expand, and the latest addition is a patent for a headset with in-built microphone. Like with everything that Apple patents, there is no guarantee that what is described in the latest patent would see the light of day. However, the application of the technology could potentially change games in various ways.
Apple’s new headset patent shows images of a product that is similar to the headphones that Beats already produces. However, the major noticeable difference is that Apple’s envisioned headsets have a microphone pocking from the left earpiece. Beats was acquired by Apple for $3 billion, leading to the building of Apple Music.
It is possible that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could manufacture the patented enriched headsets through Beats, whose hardware brand exists separately. The likelihood of Apple producing the headset through Beats can be seen in the fact that the inventors of the patented headset are the same people who worked for the company that created the initial models Beats Solo headphones. The inventors of the headset with built-in microphone are Christopher Kuh and Robert Brunner. The duo worked for Ammunition studio, the name behind Beats’ first line of headphones.
Apple as a label
It is also possible that the enriched headsets could also have a role in bolstering Apple Music. It has been cited by various analysts that there could be more to Apple Music than meets the eye. There are those who believe that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could someday become the global label company, tapping artists directly and giving them the tools to produce music.
If Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) intends to cut off labels, although that could be a long-term goal, the headset with in-built microphone could be well-placed. To enable artists set up their home studio for music production, Apple may give them just the right hardware and software they need to make their work and life much easier.
For that reason, a Macbook bundled with music software and headsets with in-built microphones seem to be a perfect set of accessories to avail to artists producing for Apple Music.
