The decline in portfolio value came on the back of a number of tweaks that Valueworks performed on its portfolio mix during 1Q. The fund initiated a fresh position in one stock, sold out of two stocks, added holding in five stocks and reduced stakes in 27 other stocks.

At the end of the day, Valueworks had its largest equity interest in terms of sector in Healthcare, which makes 23% of total portfolio. The fund’s other industries of interest are Technology, Finance and Energy.

Boston Scientific (BSX)

Valueworks decreased its stockholding in Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE:BSX) during 1Q to 725,830 shares from 744,555 shares at the end of 4Q. The new stake in BSX was worth $12.9 million at the end of the latest filing. Despite the decrease in the number of shares held in BSX, dollar value in the company rose from $9.9 million in the previous report.

Boston Scientific Corporation (NYSE:BSX) is favored by Atalanta Sosnoff Capital, which initiated a fresh position of more than 2.8 million shares in the company during 1Q.

Eli Lilly (LLY)

The stake in Eli Lilly and Co (NYSE:LLY) was reduced to 146,761 shares from 182,830 shares between 1Q2015 and 4Q2014. The new holding in LLY was valued at $10.7 million, compared to $12.6 million at the end of 4Q.

Gilead Sciences (GILD)

Valueworks slightly narrowed its exposure to Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) during 1Q to 106,825 shares, which were worth $10.5 million at the end of the quarter. The fund previously owned 107,350 shares valued at $10.1 million in the company. The dollar value in GILD increased the reduction in stockholding.

Gilead Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:GILD) is also a significant stake in the portfolio of Adams Diversified Equity Fund, which held 375,900 shares in the company at the end of 1Q, having neither added nor reduced holding during the quarter.

Valueworks initiated a stake in Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (NASDAQ:SBLK) and sold out of 3M Co (NYSE:MMM) and Cliffs Natural Resources Inc (NYSE:CLF) during 1Q.
