Pfizer Inc. (PFE), Western Union Company (WU) and Ford Motor Company (F): Lesa Sroufe & Company’s Best Equity Bets
Lesa Sroufe & Company equity portfolio decreased to a little over $152 million from more than $158 million between 1Q2015 and 4Q2014. The fund has its largest bet in utilities and communications, which account for 21% of its portfolio. It also has extensive holding in energy and finance stocks. Lesa Sroufe sold out of five stocks during 1Q2015 and made two fresh moves in the quarter.

Position in Pfizer declines
Lesa Sroufe & Company maintained Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) as its largest equity position at the end of 1Q, but the fund slightly cut exposure to the drug company. At the close of 1Q, the fund owned 245,683 shares in Pfizer valued at $8.5 million, compared to the prior position of 254,740 shares. Dollar value in Pfizer appreciated in 1Q despite the cut in stockholding.
The cut of stake in Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) comes when the company recently lowered its fiscal 2015 outlook, fearing continued impact from unfavorable foreign exchange rates. However, Pfizer beat expectations in 1Q, earning $0.38 a share on revenue of $10.86 billion.
Lesa Sroufe Reduces stake in Western Union
Lesa Sroufe & Company held 395,201 shares worth $8.2 million in Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) at the end of 1Q. That compared to 408,120 shares valued at $7.3 million at the end of 4Q2014, representing a decrease in number of shares owned but a respectable appreciation in dollar value.
Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) posted impressive performance figures in 1Q2015, whereby earnings came in at $0.39 a share, comfortably beating the consensus estimate of $0.01.
Stockholding in Ford Motor falls
Lesa Sroufe & Company counts Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) as its third-largest equity position by dollar value. The fund owned 506,087 shares worth about $8.2 million in the company at the end of 1Q. Holding in Ford was 499,404 shares valued at $7.7 million in the previous report.
China Mobile Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:CHL) was the five stocks in which Lesa Sroufe & Company sold out completely in 1Q. The fund held 103,327 shares worth $6.1 million in China Mobile at the end of 4Q.
