Concept Drawings of Potential Daimler AG Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck
We mentioned that Daimler AG (OTCMKTS:DDAIF)’s Mercedes-Benz planned on launching the company’s first pickup truck by 2020.
The people at TopSpeed have chimed in with an original rendering that shows a look inspired by the GLE Coupe as to what that Mercedes-Benz pickup truck could look like. They make a number of projections on the vehicle estimating that it will start at $30K, have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that is turbocharged and makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
TopSpeed notes that the truck’s target audience and main competitors are the Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok. Mercedes-Benz says the truck is targeted at Australia, Europe, Latin American, and South Africa. The truck is not likely to be seen in America because a sub-luxury utility vehicle would likely only serve to dilute the luxury brand status. Topspeed further postulates that a luxury truck would be too overpriced for those looking for a truck and too truckish for those wanting a Mercedes.
