Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger All Are Important For Facebook Inc (FB)
During the F8 developer conference conducted by Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), the head honchos behind Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger were present to provide a picture about each business. In a panel discussion, they explained the importance of the social networking site, besides the three apps operations, which compete with their own core businesses.
Products May Morph Into One
The panel moderator, Mary Meeker, said that there was an opinion gaining traction that Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s own products would be morphed into one in about five years. It might then be known as ‘WhatsInstaMessage.’ However, the panel made it clear that the key is simplicity and that WhatsApp and Instagram provide the simplicity that Facebook does not. Facebook and its messenger are only growing bigger and becoming further complicated. The company appears to believe that the apps, which are doing one thing (and doing it really well), are the hedge for social networking sites against user burnout and bloat.
For instance, if someone was unable to use the messenger of Facebook, he or she might find something to linking in Whatsapp or Instagram for its simplicity. It would be double in the developing world where there is a need for fast Internet connections and cutting edge devices.
The founder of WhatsApp, Brian Acton, said that simple has always been its mantra. It was supposed to be a competitor to Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), directly allowing users to post statuses. Once that proved to be a failure, WhatsApp turned to an extremely simple messenger, which thrived.
Instagram too had a similar experience trying something that was complicated and it stepped back to do something that would really be simple, solving the real issue in a cool way. Instagram’s future was in a discovery finding with a single user from over 300 million using the app. It was a big challenge, and it could not have happened through a different way that would do with any apps.
