Apple Watch pictured is already attracting Chinese Clones Before Release

It is sad, but true. Even before the original product could hit the market, clone started doing the rounds. This would not happen to any other company besides the innovating Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). In a shocking display, a near-identical Watch was on display at the CES exposition in Las Vegas.

While the exposition at CES proved a center stage for showcasing the innovative products over the years, it also turned out to be a showpiece for Clone products too. All the innovative efforts of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) seemed to have been hijacked with a near-look clone Watch that made its way in a Chinese manufacturers’ CES stall.

While the Apple Watch’s base model was said to be priced about $350, the clone Watch reportedly cost a mere $60 per piece. The pricing could very well suggest as to which one rein in supremacy.

The clone Watch was very frequently switched off and did not have an impressive demo. However, Shenzhen-based companies’ representative disclosed that they ran a version of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL)’s Android operating system. The version of Android was later redesigned to look like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS. Strangely, all the clone devices were lined up next to each other like wearable gadgets that have a supernatural resemblance to Samsung’s Gear smart watches and fitness trackers like the Misfit and Fitbit Shine.

Little Difference

Creative Strategies’ tech analyst, Ben Bajarin, was a witness to several fake products at the CES exposition. He said that he was not surprised by the duplicate products. Bajarin also said that China makes a number of high-end knock-off watches.

The tech analyst was of the view that these products would not leave their homeland except for the purposes of roping in business partners during a trade show. However, he said that China could witness a flood of low-cost Android-based smart watches. Their idea seemed to be to copy the design to enter the sector.

Bajarin said fake copies of iPhones, as well as, iPads made very little impact to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s sales since the consumers are very well aware of the brand’s power and differentiation in quality.
