Apple Inc. (AAPL) Launches Tumblr Promoting iTunes
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has expanded its social media marketing and has unveiled a fresh iTunes Tumblr portal. The company revealed a precense on Yahoo! Inc (NASDAQ:YHOO)‘s Tumblr to promoting the best of music, TV, movies, and books in 2014.
Tumblr features the best of videos for every category and integrates with shareable images, quotes, and GIFs apart from other content suitable for reblogging.
Apple appears to be not only setting up a precense on the service but an advertiser. None-the-less, the company’s Tumblr blog content was designed to allow for sharing additionally with the users of Tumblr and has provisions for easy access to share on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR). Report indicated that the fresh iTunes blog was not visible immediately on Tumblr’s ad units like any sponsored posts or trending and Radar.
This was not the first time that Apple has attempted to experiment with Tumblr. Earlier in the year, the company unveiled a Tumblr site solely to encourage the iPhone 5c. At that time too, it was said that Apple was advertising on isee5c.tumblr.com site, which is still live though the content of the site were removed.
Moreover, the technology bellwether has also established an Instagram account a couple of weeks back for its iTunes, MacRumors noted. Interestingly, the move came on the back of Apple appointing Musa Tariq, who was formerly the social media head of Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE).
Tumblr Testing New Ad Platform
Meanwhile, Tumblr has started testing a new ad platform that could result in increased traffic to iTunes through a new ad unit that encourages mobile applications. Reports have said that the app installed ads which would open the iTunes’ App Store on the phones of users’ in case their phone did not have the app downloaded. Alternatively it would enable users to open the app from their phones if they already have it. The new feature could link music marketing with Tumblr more closely.
