Still wondering what to get your family or loved ones for Christmas? Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) released their list of best selling books of 2014 today, just in time! They included both an overall list and a list tailored towards Kids & Teens.

On the top of the chart is The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. An Oprah’s Book Club pick, this book follows the lives of two girls in Charleston, NC in the 1830s speaking out for equality and liberty. The book is written by Sue Monk Kidd, author of the popular book, The Secret Life of Bees.

Next on the list is John Grisham’s Gray Mountain. The Gray Mountain follows a woman from the fast track at a Wall Street Law Firm to laid off in a recession and working for free at a legal aid clinic in Brady, Virginia, a town of 2,200. Like Grisham and Monk, many of the authors on the list are repeats and many of the books are part of a series, such as Lee Child’s new Jack Reacher book, Twenty Seconds and The Heroes of Olympus Book Five: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan.

Amazon’s release of this list is a good insight into American culture and what we are all are reading. The top 20 lists take into account first editions that were published in 2014, consider only paid units, and combine print and Kindle editions.
