According to ChannelAdvisor, Black Friday Online Sales overall were up 22.0% with eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY) leading the way among online retailers with 26.9% year over year growth. Amazon.com, Inc.(NASDAQ:AMZN) came in a close second with 24.2% year over year growth, but bested eBay on Thanksgiving Day growth 25.9 percent to 3 percent.

Amazon has been aggressive this holiday season with its Eight Days of Black Friday and Eight Days of Cyber Monday promotions, which have featured new deals every 10 minutes.

Omnichannel largest growth category

The largest growth category for ChannelAdvisor was “Other 3PM” which grew 58.9% year over year on Black Friday and 110 percent year over year on Thanksgiving Day. Other 3PM growth was largely driven by Omnichannel retailers. Omnichannel retailers are offering deals online as well as in-store driving traffic to their online sites. Retailers mentioned in the Thanksgiving Report, included Sears Holdings Corp(NASDAQ:SHLD) and Best Buy Co Inc (NYSE:BBY). No specifics were included about the performance of those companies.

Less Mobile, More Browsing?

Other points of interest included the fact that Black Friday was a little less mobile; then, Thanksgiving Day (46% to 49%) and conversation rates were down indicating consumers may have been more selective and doing more deal shopping.
