Bloomberg pays writers to move market

Business Insider details a story popular in the Twitter-verse today that Bloomberg pays writers a variety of strange incentives that include paying them more if their stories “move markets”. From the Business Insider article, “A former Bloomberg News employee, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed to Business Insider that Bloomberg News does track market-moving stories reporters publish and that these types of stories do factor into reporters' bonuses.” The practice creates concerns that reporters would push stories further then deserved with questionable sources just to increase the potential push and pull on the market which could lead to larger bonuses. Be careful of the sources listed in articles even from reputable sources like Bloomberg. You never know what incentives the writer has.
